The cats recently figured out that they could get into my room when I'm asleep with my portable air conditioner running. (I leave my door open a little and run the exhaust out into the family room, where the cats usually sleep.) So I was only mildly annoyed when Sammy woke me up this morning, meowing next to my bed. Unlike previous times, she ignored my polite suggestions to get out. Defeated, I got up to use the bathroom.
When I came back, she was making motions like she was eating or throwing up, or probably one then the other. Turning on the lights answered everything. Where I was expecting vomit, I saw a whole chicken breast. It had fallen out of the freezer, and thawed overnight. She was doing the typical housecat behavior of presenting the results of her hunt to her owner.
The day became less and less interesting as it went on.
Today I also dipped into my dwindling supply of mini-heatsinks to provide some cooling for the voltage regulator on my ASUS 7900GT, reputed to be the defective part. It hasn't helped my framerate any, but it's reduced the amount of texture corruption and stopped the rebooting. Enough to let me finish BioShock (at 1024x768) before I RMA the damn thing.
