Sorry, I haven't been updating. Here's what you've missed:

I replaced the 75 watt light bulb in my room with two 13 watt compact fluorescents. They're not supposed to be like regular fluorescents, flickering and slow to turn on. I'm actually fine with them so far.

I'm also catching up on old TV shows that I've missed: Mr. Show, which I've never seen an episode of; and MST3K, which I've seen a handful of, plus the movie. Both are funny shows, but MST3K takes up a lot of time. It's worth just for the Sandy Frank Song.

TKDWC is all bugfixes and polishing for me right now. It's pretty much an actual, factual game.

I got Guitar Hero '80s Edition a couple of days after it came out, but it was kind of a disappointment considering it cost $50: only thirty songs to GH2's forty (or GH2 360's forty-eight). I beat them all on expert the first night except for "Play With Me". Since then, I've 5-starred all but five of them, and I still can't beat "Play With Me."

I also finished Mega Man ZX for the DS yesterday, which is a game I've been playing on and off for a couple of months. It's a solid game, but I couldn't get past the first boss on normal difficulty. Maybe now I could.

I have fluorescents all over my house at this point. I am using at least 4 different brands and different wattages inside each brand. They all universally have one problem which bugs the heck out of me. That being that when you turn them on they have a slow start, they will turn on dim and then grow brighter till they reach full strength. This takes a minute or two.

They don't do this when they are brand new, it takes a few weeks for it to start happening. The other thing is that they all give off a yellowish light. Though my father recently turned me on to "day light" fluorescents which have a much stronger, brighter, white light.

And finally my last complaint is that they don't last as long as they advertise. I had two die on me approximately 2 years after installing and they are all rated for 5+.

I was going to ask if you beat Zero in cyberspace, but I don't think you can on easy mode. Is it just me or did they confuse the descriptions of the hero in the manual? It says the girl is cool and collected and the guy is headstrong, but their actions in the middle of the game and the end are opposed to that description.

No, and there are a bunch of side quests and items I didn't do either. It's probably worth another run through on normal.

CFs are nice. Just like wikle, I have seen that they tend to take a few minutes to reach full brightness. Bad for bathrooms, which is why I haven't replaced those bulbs.

I'm surprised wikle finds them yellowish - as far as I (or more importantly, my camera) can tell they're the exact same color temp as normal tungstens.

That's right - they don't seem to have the classic greenish tinge of normal fluorescents that photographers HATE.

They also don't seem to flicker visibly at all. I have no problem using them as lighting for my camera even at reasonably high shutter speeds.

The ones I have are Sylvania Soft Whites from Sams' Club.
