Happen to know anything about hacking phones?
Looking for a new media player for my razr v3m, maybe a new file manager...
Maybe a mod player?
Also need some sort of headphone for it (but it uses a mini-usb jack?) well I just got an idea for another search actually. mini-usb audio instead of usb razr.
Assuming the V3m is on Verizon, you're probably screwed. Things that could be solved in userland like a mod player are impossible because it's a BREW phone. And even if you managed to flash it with compatible java firmware, it would probably be missing the required interfaces to access the filesystem. (The regular V3 is missing JSR 75). Everyone loses!
I'm not aware of any projects to modify the firmware on such a large scale as to replace components like the file manager. There are themes which can change the look of the GUI, but if I know my Verizon, that will be locked out.
You'll probably want to get a SEEM editor and see what kind of stuff you can unlock without flashing it.
The headphones use EMU, which is described here
. You could probably modify an existing headset to use a USB connector if the V3m uses the same pinout.
I'm on Sprint, if it makes a big difference.
V3m is the first CDMA razr it seems, so Sprint peeps can finally get it.
Damn, the file manager sucks (or is nonexitent, rather) though.
Most of my mp3s also manage to crash the media player, so that sucks.
Thanks for the headphone link. It seemed like something I should be able to manage. I've got plenty mini-usb cables around.
Haha.. I had to buy a second PVR-150 a while back for similar reasons. I hope they release something off the 0.20-fixes branch soon; I hate having to compile the SVN version of mythtv, but there's a major major bug in 0.20 that makes LiveTV unusable in a network setup. There's a race condition between the backend starting a new recording and the frontend requesting the next recording, so when a show ends and the next show starts, 80% of the time my frontend will request a file that doesn't exist yet on the backend and freeze up and eventually go back to the main menu. It's fixed in SVN, but I liked just being able to apt-get install it from ubuntu's universe repo. I also haven't gotten around to building the SVN version on my Mac, so now I can't watch tv on there anymore (the protocol changed betwen 0.20 and 0.20-fixes).
