Last weekend I figured out what my first DS project should be. I wanted to do something fairly simple that would give me a tour of all of the systems: both processors, both screens, the touchpad, 2D, 3D, sound, and networking. Now I'm not sure what dredged up this old memory, but an old DOS game called Hexxagon
fit the bill perfectly.
Since then, the project just keeps hurtling forwards. I was writing to multiple hardware surfaces yesterday, and made a clickable board with a starfield in the background. And today I added another 3D layer on top of that, with some basic lighting and material properties. I wrote a quick mesh "exporter" for blender that just writes out C source code with OpenGL commands in it.
Now I.. kind of have a lot of Hexxagon pieces. I'm really terrifically excited.
