It's getting 6fps on the emulator and 1fps on the hardware :(
Fortunately, the profiler indicates that over 75% of the cycles are in java's Graphics.drawLine(). Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a good way to draw pixels manually in MIDP. But with filled polygons, this indicates that I am free to spend CPU doing as much culling as possible to avoid drawing unnecessary lines. So there is still hope!
