Oh man. It was not that hard to do, considering I've never used a mac outside of a library before.
- Get a cheap x86 computer. The secret ingredient is ASRock P4Dual-915GL which has the proper integrated video. Nobody has ATI or NVIDIA cards working yet.
- Find tiger-x86.tar.bz2 and follow these instructions.
- ZOMG THERE'S A MAC IN MY PC!
- Except you're not done yet because your hardware wasn't detected quite right.
I had to remove AppleIntel830.kext from /System/Library/Extensions in order for it to properly detect the i915 integrated graphics. I also had to remove AppleTPMACPI.kext which sucks up CPU trying to access a DRM chip that doesn't exist.
I haven't tried the sound yet. That probably also needs special help.
I'd like to use x2vnc to access this new monstrosity, but the mouse gets very sluggish unless you move it around really fast. Anyway, I'm pretty amused.
