I saw Shaun of the Dead on cable the other day. Man, I don't think comcast has ever delivered a better movie to our big TV. Just wanted to register my approval here.

Have you seen the new DOOM trailer yet? Now, my hopes have been down since they announced this. But... well, at least it's on Mars. Maybe it'll be worth renting when the DVD is released?

And now, I'm curious as to what you guys think about something related. I know the temptation is there to beat up on DOOM 3, but I think it was a *really* scary game. (The original, not the rather crummy expansion.) But is it scarier than the all time champion?

What's scarier?

DOOM 3

I've played much of RE4. They kinda did too good of a job of making me feel totally screwed. When I got into the hospital and saw that regenerating zombie, I just kinda gave up!

Shaun of the Dead is hilarious! Got it on DVD. :]

Can't really answer to your poll, by the way, since I haven't played either game.

System Shock 2 all the way. The game filled me with such dread that I usually couldn't play it for more than an hour at a time. I sort of got over that by the time I reached the third deck tho.

Doom 3 didn't have the same effect on me. First of all, I'm a huge Doom fan. I bought the game the day it came out and I was too pumped to be scared. I pretty much went from pumped to slightly spooked to bored. I wasn't really feeling the last 1/3 of the game.

The other thing is that I think its impossible for me to be REALLY spooked when I know I can whoop ass. haha - hence at the end of SS2 when I had a great arsenal the scare factor was pretty much gone for me.

Heh. For me, Deck 3 was one of the worst. I spent that entire level just saying "oh god, I have to get out of here, oh god..."

I played both Doom 3 and System Shock 2 about the same amounts.. And you played the co-op with me so you know how much that is ;-). I say SS2 is scarier.. little poo throwing monkeys do it every time.

I also have no hope for Doom movie. This is entirely do to the fact that its "THE ROCK" thats playing the main role. I mean his first name is 'the' how much worse can you get?

Re: The

Bah 'The Amazing' is a title totally different really. Like saying 'Sir' or 'Duke' or 'Turdblossom''

Maybe it's an age difference thing though.

First time I played System Shock 2 and heard that blockhead zombie WARRRGH, and that ghost at the beginning, I totally freaked.

Doom 3 has it's moments, but maybe I was expecting that sort of thing?

I dunno.

ss2 is definitely more fun. :D
