The RAZR? Man, way to choose form over function. :P
Think you could document your experience? I've found the existing "how to write midlets" (man, I hate the word "midlet") documentation sorely lacking. Maybe I just wasn't looking in the right places, I dunno.
It's a sexy phone. More on that when mine actually gets here next week. How's it lacking function though? From where I'm standing (next to a VX4400) it has more functions than a jmp table.
Sure, I'll put something together tonight. It was a lot of digging through various sites, and later finding out that I had a really old version of all the java tools...
I guess it's a decent enough phone, though it lacks support for EDGE, and the camera is pretty mediocre (though I suppose, in fairness, that's still the rule rather than the exception). If it were me, I'd probably get a V551 or something a little more utilitarian. Not that it has a better camera (I'd get a Sony Ericsson S710a if I wanted that, it has a 1280x960 camera), but it does have EDGE.
Like I said, there's a post about this coming later. The reason I'm waiting so long on my phone is that we ordered some V551s and a Razr... and we sent the V551s all back. Having both of them working in front of me, there was no question.
I didn't know it lacked EDGE support. That kinda sucks... although I probably won't miss it. I've used my 1xRTT network connection maybe a grand total of 3 times over the past 2 years.
We briefly considerred the Sony Ericsson, but it was kinda chunky and after replacing the outer glass on my VX4400 twice, I'm not thrilled to have the main screen exposed all the time.
Yeah. A friend of mine bought a RAZR. I was thoroughly unimpressed with its size, and especially its (functionality+size)/cost ratio. Length and width were very close to my Treo 600, and it really wasn't that thin either (Maybe 2/3 the thickness of my 600 when it's folded up). Functionality is kinda nice, but nothing close to even the T600, let alone the 650 now that they've fixed the NVFS 512-byte-record flaws.
I'm going to come over tonight to uh... not steal your phone. *nods*
