Six Apart job came back negative, based on my background. I can't say I'm surprised, but it doesn't really make my day any better. So now that those dominoes have fallen like a house of cards (checkmate!), I'm going to start applying in the game industry.

To that end, I'm going to work on revamping my 427 final project (make it more gamelike, port to SDL, fix the bugs) and spacegame (make it run in windows, make some demo levels) so I have some non-ZZT/MZX demo material. Now if only I had published 2 AAA games already, I could actually get a job :P

I'm sure you'll get a game job. I can't think of many people who are better suited for one than you. My opinion of course.

There's some neat stuff in the old spacegame code. Mostly the physics.

Did you see the Dogma 2001 rules? I think I wanna design a Dogma game.

Yeah, I haven't finished reading it though... I'm attempting to think of anything that doesn't break some of those rules :D (is this one of those, if you know the rules they you know how to properly break them deals? That's how art works XD)

Dood, wtf does Six Apart want, if they didn't give you the job? You have extensive LJ history and BG, and now have a degree in programming. My lord are they picky :O I honestly thought you had a better shot with them than gamming coding atm, but we both know what its like out there >_< Well, that's what this summer is for! *G*

Some of them haven't held up as well in 2005. I don't think anyone still has a 2-axis, 2-button joystick. And Darwinia manages to be innovative even with that pesky 3D support that every computer has. You have the right idea about knowing the rules so you can break them. I still think it would be fun to make something that follows all of them.

I mean, it's easy to make up something that follows all of them--a game where you make keys to open your adversaries' locks, and make your own locks to keep them out--you just have to (for example) look at your desk and see the keys there. But that might not work well, or be fun at all. That's the hard part, I think.

As for the LJ job, they're a small team and I think looking for someone specific. Since I plan on using LJ for a while, I approve of this pickiness. I just think they fucked up ;)

If it was mid 2006, I might offer you a job.

But alas. I'm scraping together my first game now, and cannot bring you aboard!
