Okay, wow.

Did my Geology test today (Wednesday), went pretty well. That was done at 3:00pm.

And then I came back here and worked on my graphics project. And I got it just about to where I want it. The shadow performance is bad, because of glReadPixels(), and they also look terrible because of the sparseness of my terrain. But everything is in, and on time. I didn't play a second of Half Life 2 today because of this.

So yeah, I bet you'd rather just play with it than look at more screen shots. Here you go. The windows version was a quick port. I used mingw, and copied in a replacement for gettimeofday()

Windows version - Assn4-windows.zip (2.3M)
Linux version - Assn4-linux.tar.bz2 (1.6M)

I can't post the source code, since it is a solution to a project. But it's supposed to be like this (windows demo only).

Anyway, hit the red spheres to get 5 points, hit a tree and lose 5 points. If the shadows are too slow, press 'x' to toggle them off. Press 'h' to toggle the headlights in the dark. Read the README. Enjoy the sunset/sunrise fading.

Perhaps I can sleep now.

Oh yeah. Among the design issues with this game is that it's more fun to run over trees than spheres :P

I didn't read the part about points. I was wondering why I had -65 points, I thought it might be a bug.

's' displays the shadowmap. You can tell because at sunrise and sunset, all the lines extend out to infinity as really long shadows.

Hahaha, I fell off the edge of the map at nighttime, waited for it to get light again, somehow got back on land, then fell off again, this time totally unable to get back.

Heh. You actually move normally when you fall off the world, but the points for height are random so you end up moving way up or down away from the terrain.
