Remember when one of my WD1200JBs died, and I sent it back for warranty replacement? Well, a few months later and:

Now the replacement is dying too. Hard drives are the worst. So, I guess I'll send this one back on monday.

My last hard drive died too. It was a western digital as well. I figured that the heads must have gone out of alignment from all the shipping and moving. It was part of a prefab computer and the warranty ran out so I couldn't replace it.

This time around I went with Seagate. I've had it for 4-5 months, and so far so good. *crosses finger*

I have 4 4 year old 7200 RPM 20 gig WD Caviars that are still runnign fine.

I think they are anyway. 3 of 4 at least. They were in a raid for some time, and when I upgraded, I had to move my drives so that they couldn't get enough cooling and they crashed regularly if I ran all of them. So now I just have one to boot off of and another 80 gig I splurged on.

The secret is... buy drives with rubber seals that are screwed together, not taped together.

Because macs don't have hard drives, they have holographic memory crystals from the outer reaches of the galaxy?

God damn I hate computers. I bought mine from ibuypower.com and the heat sink was fucked up or something cause it kept overheating. They replaced all the necessary parts for free (kick ass) but it's starting to overheat again and reboot itself. Argh.

Mine has been overheating this summer too. I put some pretty weak fans on it, to try to make it sound less like a jet engine, but it didn't always do this. Then last week I remembered that I had all my fans set to low. Oops :P
