Not getting to do any programming at work is getting to me. Also, I wanted to do that comment meme that everyone was doing. So, last night, I did this:

For some reason, waking up has been difficult this week. I overslept 30 minutes yesterday, and an hour this morning.

Anyway, maybe I'll play around with my lj_comment_stats program some more, and watch Doctor Who. That should be it for today.

Sure. I still want to add html output, and have some more options. But when it's done...

Heh, I suppose I should ask what language it's in, first :P

Python, which has been my pet language since I took the Semantic Web course at UMD.

Damn! I don't have a python environment on my computer! :D

...not that I have a perl one, either.

I'm becoming a Perl Geek. Is that a Bad Thing?

The best thing about perl is that there is almost always a direct mapping from the problem-in-my-head to perl. This is somewhat less true for python, in return for the end result being more readable. Both good choices :)

Forgiving HTML:

#!/usr/bin/perl -w
while (<>)
{/<(comment|usermap) id='(\d+)' (posterid|user)='([\w\d]+)'/;
$1 eq "comment" and $commenthash{$3}++;
$1 eq "usermap" and $userhash{$2} = $3;
foreach sort keys $userhash {print "$userhash($_) with $commenthash($_)"}

...I know that doesn't work. It also doesn't handle anonymous.

But it's a start, I suppose.

Not that I have a Perl enviornment, anyways.
