My day, in summary, photographic:
physics book and new car stereo

That's my physics, which I had a final in, which didn't go insanely great. And above it is the new CD player I got for my car. Well, its faceplate and remote anyway. I've needed a new CD player ever since I bought the car (the old one didn't work, but the radio did). When the radio stopped working because of the anti-theft feature, that eventually provided the impetus for me to get this one. And I'm not doing the drive back home in silence again. Now I need to go burn a disc full of MP3s and try it out!

Is that a P7600MP? I just bought one of those last night.

Close. It's a P4600MP. I'm not sure what the difference is.

The 7600MP has the flashy OLED display, while the 4600MP has a more classic segmented & backlit LCD display.

In terms of actual performance & features, etc... I think there is very little difference indeed, I think maybe the 7600MP has more equalizer steps and so forth.

I went for the 7600MP because I thought it would display more ID3 information from MP3's, but it seems that actually it may not really display more useful information than the 4600MP so I may have wasted 50-60 bucks. Oh well! I got it on eBay & am installing it myself so I saved $150 already.

I tried out the MP3 support this afternoon, and it seemed to support more than I needed: filename, track name, album name, etc. I'm quite happy with it. I had mine installed at Best Buy, so yeah, you're going to pay a lot less than I did.

The only reason I decided not to have Best Buy install it is that my old CD player was stolen, and the guy cut off the factory connectors inside the Jeep, so now I have just bare wires poking out. My original Jeep (and 85 IIRC) didn't have connectors at all, so Best Buy had to hard-wire everything, like they would have to do now. It takes forever and costs a fortune to have them do it, and since the center dash area comes apart really easy on my Jeep, and all the mounting hardware was still there from my last radio, I figured I'd just spend an afternoon splicing all the wires together myself.

should just get a wiring harness off a wrecked one at junk yard or something.. then when ever you get a new player you can just get the other end of the harness to hook to the radio.. much easier that way.
