Today is looking good.

I finally figured out what was wrong with my Space Ghost recordings last night. Nobody told me that cartoons were telecined :P Transcode's inverse telecine produced much better results than smart deinterlace. Far from perfect, because of the... inconsistent editing and live action in Space Ghost, but it's good enough for me! Here is the entire process for transcoding from a telecined LAV file to an xvid/vorbis OGM:

VIDEO+AUDIO: PASS 1
-------------------
nice -n 15 transcode -i INPUT.mov -o test.avi -x lav,lav -y xvid4 -J 'skip=AAA-BBB CCC-DDD,ivtc=magic=1,decimate,32detect=verbose=1:force_mode=5:chromathres=2:chromadi=9,yuvdenoise,astat,pv' -M0 -f 23.976 -g 640x480 -e 44100 -k -V -c 'START-END' -R 1

(take note of the astat results, for volume gain next time)

VIDEO: PASS 2
-------------
nice -n 15 transcode -i INPUT.mov -o test.avi -x lav,null -y xvid4,null -w 1200 -J 'skip=AAA-BBB CCC-DDD,ivtc=magic=1,decimate,32detect=verbose=1:force_mode=5:chromathres=2:chromadi=9,yuvdenoise,pv' -M0 -f 23.976 -g 640x480 -e 44100 -k -V -c 'START-END' -R 2

AUDIO: PASS 2
-------------
transcode -i INPUT.mov -m test.ogg -x lav,lav -y null,ogg -J 'skip=AAA-BBB CCC-DDD' -e 44100 -f 29.97 -c 'START-END' -s GAIN

MULTIPLEX
---------
ogmmerge -o final.ogm -A test.avi -D test.ogg

Goals for today: FoaF, CV_SHRINE.
