I got Software Suspend 2
working on my laptop today. All I had to do was take AFS support out of the kernel, and make it a module instead. Actually, I wanted to use the sw-suspend built into kernel 2.6, but that one was ACPI-based. The ThinkPad 650e is on at least 3 different linux blacklists for ACPI :P But yeah, now it's just as good as my NEC laptop, which didn't require any operating system level support for suspend-to-disk.
