Hey, thanks for all the birthday wishes today! That was the first one of those I spent away from home (it was a sunday last year, so I went back for the weekend) so your messages were welcome!
Also, here are some paragraphs.
I grew up with a C64, so I have a certain fondness for the SID chip (MOS6581). I went from there to a 386 with a soundblaster, so the only other chip I've used was some kind of OPL (which I never really liked when I had it--I mean, you could do DIGITAL SAMPLES with the soundblaster!). But listening to the music from UMD8730
makes me interested in the YM2149 chip from the Atari ST, and lots of other machines apparently. It's nice to know what all those tunes are on nectarine that sound too "wrong" to be sidtunes actually are, if nothing else :)
Random tasks that I have no time to do: zzt world optimizer, including "lossy compression" if you really don't care about what color things are; oh wow, there were at least 2 more random tasks and I've forgotten them. That's why I try to write these down.
I didn't do any work saturday, sunday, or today (monday). Played a lot of civ3, though. Nothing like 75 cruise missiles to convince those greedy russians to "share" their oil. But I had to get all megalomaniacal and rain down nuclear hellfire, causing my longtime allies the chinese to turn on me! --you see how addictive this is: I can't even write about not getting work done because of civ3, because I start writing about civ3! Anyway, this stops today, because I have exams to study for. Not final exams, but rather the exams they cram in BEFORE finals.
In conclusion, (and thanks to suppafly
) YSE! (not worksafe)
A little antialiasing, and I think I could suspend disbelief ;)
