I'm extremely pleased. My seeker missiles are "good enough". They hit the target (moving or stationary) most of the time. Obviously, if they hit the target all of the time it would be no fun. And I added in a quick mouse cursor; this was easy with SDL. This is such a fun project. Nothing like my other projects ;)

This game puts absolutely no strain on the graphics card thus far. The game is silky smooth at 1024x768 on my MATROX CARD. Sprites rule. I'm somewhat curious about the strain I'm putting on the CPU, though. The game logic does not take advantage of multithreading, so it can't be getting a benefit from my 2 cpu setup. But still, Athlon 1900+. Once I get a windows version compiled (damn you glPng!), I'll need to try it on some slower CPUs.

I think I'm going to get some pizza, and then watch Spaceballs.

I wrote some simple libpng+opengl (and also a IJG libjpeg loader for linux and one for windows that uses the Intel JPEG libs) texture loading routines that I'm pretty sure compile on windows and linux. If not, they'll work with only minimal tweaking. I'd be happy to send you the source.

Thanks, but I'll get it working eventually. The problem is that I'm not very good with mingw32. I actually use PNG's alpha channel a lot, so JPEG wouldn't be as useful.
