The increadible thing is that it might even work. But I can imagine how scary it must be -- you only get one shot...

BTW, what does bender do, anyway? Besides serve a pic of bender and uptime on http?

It actually did work! :) Called home, and the internet connection is restored.

bender is the gateway between the internet and the LAN at home. It does NAT through ethernet for an aggressively established ppp modem link. It also gets mail for when my box is down or in windows, acts as a transparent caching web proxy / ad blocker, and probably other stuff.

Also, your kevedit stuff looks good. I seem to have accidently deleted djgpp, but once I recompile that, I'll have a closer look.
