Played gobliiins3 and zone66 all day. It's been a long time since I've run DOS on this machine. It would be perfect if I could write some code to turn on the SBLive in DOS mode. That way, I could plug the output of the SB16 clone into SBLive's line2 rather than having to move cables around the back of the PC...

Speaking of which, I've been thinking about how I want to configure my new PC. I'm stubbornly waiting for dual athlons; that I know for sure. I'm wondering about disks. It would be easy to have a disk for Linux, a disk for Win2k, and a disk for DOS, but that would only leave space for one CD/DVD drive. (unless new machines have more IDE channels than they used to) Meaning I'd have to spring for a SCSI burner and controller card. IDE is somewhat cheaper.

Well, just more junk to ponder. It doesn't amount to anything until my beloved 76{2,0MP} is available.

New machines have more IDE controllers than they used to.

It's IMPORTANT to get one with an external RAID or DMA66 chip, even if you don't intend to use RAID or DMA66 :) The performance of these setups is MUCH higher than using the one in the chipset, as even on the 760MP, it's just a FIFO'd I/O port. (Whereas these controllers basically act like SCSI controllers, they just use an IDE interface to the HDD.)
