I don't know where Linus gets off calling 2.4.0 a stable kernel. It's the most unstable linux kernel I've ever seen. Loading soundcore or usb-ohci locks up the system and scrolls a bunch of oops-esque numbers by forever. Magic SysRq is unresponsive. Looks like it's back to 2.4.0-test10 for me...

Ooh, scifi is playing Lexx again...

I've had no problems so far.

Got it running on a fairly wide variety of hardware here (anathema, sanctus, and setebos, so 3 different processors, 3 different sound cards, 3 different hard drive controllers, sanctus's variety of hardware, and setebos's messed up... everything). No problems :)

Use ALSA? Beats the heck out of the OSS/Free drivers.

Oh, and what compiler did you use?

Hmm... I'm going to try to revert from Pentium-MMX to 386 to see if that makes any difference. But I'll do it tomorrow. Getting sleepy...

I tried ALSA... probably about a year ago. a) I couldn't figure out which of the 100s of modules to load, b) The emu10k1 support didn't look good at all (no drive-bay panel). But maybe that's changed.

I am using egcs-2.91.66.
