Slept more. I feel... great :)

I had this dream, but I can only remember small parts of it. Most of it took place in the back yard of my old house. I had invented "the rope system", which used a lot of rope tied all over the place in order to do something, I don't remember what. I think this was from an earlier REM phase.

In the next part (same setting), my friend from meatspace Ryan Stauffer was there. All I remember is that he was playing some video game (yes, outside), I think it was commander keen, but I didn't see it. We also sang the Hymn To Red October, but this is no big deal, because we always sing that. The weird part is that this is the first time I can remember that I've had a friend from real life in a dream. Usually when someone real is in my dreams, they are family. As far as I can remember.

The only other part I can remember is a small fragment. I had some piano suspended (maybe with the rope system) inside a building. Then something segfaulted and the pianno dropped and an error message reported that it was broken. When I went to test it, only the "high piano" worked. I don't know what that is, maybe a patch. Also, I knew zhaytee would me mad that I broke his piano.

Checking back on my local LJ archives (thank you, wget) seems to confirm that most of my dreams have family in them, never friends. Even when I'm in school in a dream, the people are ficticious. This is interesting.

Woogah, I've been meaning to figure out how to download a journal with a single wget command. How are you doing it? I figure you go to calendar view and download every link on that page....

Re: Command?

Actually, looking back on it, I didn't use wget. Just perl and lynx. You have to go through later and grep through them to find out the invalid ones (for months without a 31st day, etc.) but the script is a simple for-loop kludge:

for($j = $monthstart; $j < $monthend + 1; $j++) {
for($k = 1; $k < 32; $k++) {
if($j == $monthend && $k == $dayend) {
print "$j-$k-$year...\n";
system("lynx -source \"
ay?year=$year\&month=$j\&day=$k\" > lj_$j-$k-$year.html");
