The new front springs are on! I can now make sharp left turns just as though I had a real car! The roads in my neighborhood are pretty nice, so I don't know how the ride quality has changed. I'm going to take it out tomorrow and see how it does with some bumpier roads.
I had to cheat though. The strut spring compressor I rented from AutoZone was too big to be useful. I had to use a hammer to get it in between the coils, and the spring's radius was so small that it didn't fit in the clamps! So I brought the struts to my favorite place, Young's Garage, and they swapped them for $50.
The rear springs are larger, and stand a better chance of working with my spring compressor. I may try to do them this weekend. Until then, the front of my car is 0.5" taller than it should be, and I need to get my wheels realigned.
Cost of project so far: $278.95.
