A couple of trips to the vet has confirmed one of our cats, Sammy, has diabetes. And the same hyperthyroidism as her brother, William, but one thing at a time. It requires the same treatment as humans, regular insulin injections. Fortunately, we already started feeding them twice a day in order to get Willie his thyroid medicine. And fortunately, she didn't seem to mind the injections when my mom and I tried it at the vet's. The only change we have to make is giving them separate food. That might be tricky, as it's changing a habit of 12 years for them. I'm feeling relatively positive about this.

In other news, we entered TKDWC into the Independent Games Festival yesterday. I've been staying up late for the last couple of days putting out fires, especially related to the install process. I've learned more about side-by-side assemblies, manifests, and Windows' stupid dynamic linking system than I ever wanted to know. I also appreciate more and more the goal of rewriting Windows to be less insane. It's a damn shame that they decided to release Vista before it was ready.

I saw your MZX project on TIGSource the other day. Nice to see some coverage.

Sorry to hear that about your cat, although it sounds like it's not too bad.

I was excited to see dsmzx get some press outside of the NDS and MZX communities!

I never knew cats could even get diabetes. I grew up with farm cats so they never had issues that wouldn't kill them before we could take them to a vet (ie: a car hitting them). The real trick to having healthy animals is 1) never get a pure-bread animal since its guaranteed to have hundreds of generations of inbreeding and 2) take them to the vet absolutely as little as possible. The vet just contains too many diseases.

Congrats on the sending off of TKDWC, when is the linux port coming out? ;)

Heh, they're not pure anything, they were kittens our neighbor was giving away. I'd never heard of feline diabetes either, but 1 in 400 cats have it.

Our engine is so Microsofty, an XBOX port would be easier than a linux port :P

Hopefully the diabetes isn't the beginning of the end like it was with my older cat. Then again, she was 16 or 17 at the time :P
