I was sitting in my room, working on this
until I was interrupted by an earth-shattering kaboom. It's a familiar sound this year, as trees have been falling around our property constantly. I looked outside to see if it was the stuck tree my dad and I were trying to get down last weekend, but no such luck.
Looking in the back yard, I found it was *two* trees. Big ones. They had been bent slightly by hurricane Ernesto, and the recent rainstorms must have been the last straw. They both fell, creating a nice little domino effect of smaller trees. Fortunately, they fell the right way and didn't damage anything but other trees. Even the bamboo I transplanted last weekend was still standing. So there's a bit of excitement for the middle of the day.
I have to mention that The Colbert Report has been on a roll recently. The surprise entry in the green screen contest, Woz outnerding Colbert, Richard Dawkins, even the governor of Montana had an entertaining interview. I had stopped watching this show after the episodes were piling up on mythtv, but I am glad I started again.
