Over 6,000 spam messages for the month of October.

I'm elbows-deep in my virtual memory project for Operating Systems, and I have to say that I am *shocked* that computers work at all. Paging... segments... just whoa.

yeh.. i remembered when my one class first started covering how memory management works.. it's like oh segments, that makes sense, and oh paging, that makes sense.. then they are like btw, modern computers basically do a combination of the both.. then it gets weird.

Oh yes. I made that post while trying to get this idea into my head.. that programs have these linear segments, which are translated into this linear address space, which itself is virtual and overlapping for every process, and this address space is split into pages and fragmented all over the physical memory.. and everything still works!

At least I did get my userspace programs loaded into virtual memory 2 hours ago. But I haven't even looked at swapping pages out to disk yet...

i wish i went to a school that had a real cs degree.. we just basically covered the higher level concepts of stuff, we didn't really implement much at all.
